Vintage Boardtrack Video

A friend pointed me towards this lovely video of Board track motorcycle racing in the beginning of the last century. Amazing and scary stuff. One must have had elephant sized balls to ride at such speeds, dressed in an overall and a flimsy kind of helmet! You've certainly got my respect guys.

Omega Toolroll Version 2.0

The first toolroll really got me inspired. Astrologers say Virgos like to improve stuff, and that's just what I tried to do. They also say we are overly fastidious, cold, unfriendly, critical and too focused on the little things. But that's just jealousy, coming from people who wouldn't recognize genius if it kicked them on the helmet.

Following my own design, I really think this new toolroll surpasses the old one in many ways. What do you think?

This new and improved version features:

• 10 pockets for Allen keys, wrenches and screwdrivers
• a separate pocket with 2 snap buttons (11.5cm x 11cm)
• 2 long and soft leather latches to easily strap it onto your bike 
• choose between 7 different colors!

Heads Up - Italian Holiday 2013

I would like to give everybody a heads up regarding my absence from Thailand from the 19th of April to the 13th of May.
I will be enjoying a (well deserved) break with my family and friends in Italy. I will also work on Project Telos with my good friend Thomas and of course keep you up to date with any progress or set-backs. Hopefully only the former.

The shop will not close during this time and you will be able to order parts and helmets as usual. I have a trusted and competent person in charge while I'm away, but some delays may occur. I will still be glued to the internet though and diligently answer all your emails as usual.

In 1 month's time I will be able to answer the following questions:

1) Has my brother added yet another classic Italian bike to his collection?
2) Has my father added yet another LED array or chromey bit to his Goldwing Christmas tree...eeeh, I mean bike?
3) Will I be able, for the first time since I bought it in December 2012, to ride my Yamaha SR500 and go to one of the biggest bike meetings in South Tyrol on the 1st of May?
4) Will I be able to eat at least 50 pizzas and drink quality beer and wine during my stay and gain not less than 5kg on the scale??

This, and probably more, in about 1 month, so stay tuned and come back to check what's going on.

Project TELOS - Custom designed Tank Pad

I was in shopping mood yesterday and of course, bike stuff is the only thing that gets me excited. While surfing the internet, I came across this website tank-pad.eu, where you can choose from 9 different sizes and shapes and then design your own tank pad. It's made of a thick silicon layer and costs 34.95 Euros, worldwide shipping included. Pretty cool if you ask me.

So, I got to work, and despite my almost non-existent photoshop skills, I came up with this....

Thai and Italian flags as background. The finished pad won't have the black edges.

I'm pretty happy with the result and can't wait to get it and see it on the bike.

4h10 - Riding In The Mud

Our friends at 4h10.com came up with this rather unusual video. It put a smile on my face and my right wrist started twitching again.Unfortunately, it's still the dry season here in Thailand, but in a couple of months the monsoon will start and then we'll have some proper mud here too.  Can't wait! :-)

The Omega Toolroll

I'd like to introduce you to the new Omega toolroll, an essential piece of kit if you're planning a trip and want to be sure you've got all the bits and pieces you need for a quick road-side repair.

This toolroll is hand crafted in Thailand by a very nice couple of Thai artists and is made of durable canvas and nimble leather.
I bought a few of them for myself and to give away to a few selected friends. I think they make for great presents.

Talat Rot Fai - Bangkok

Talat Rot Fai, literally "Train Market", is a great place to hang out, do some shopping and if you're hunting for that special piece of vintage furniture or accessory, you might just find it there. It's located just 5 minutes walk from the famous Chatuchak Market und Chatuchak MRT underground train. Opening hours are about 6pm to well after midnight.

It can be very busy at times, so if you're a bit claustrophobic like me, try to avoid the peak times

Lossa Engineering shows us how to do it

This is a 1978 Yamaha SR500 built by Lossa Engineering, it has a Benelli gas tank with a Lossa Custom gas cap and handmade Yamaha emblems, hand made steel tail section, custom re orientated single tach gauge with custom Lossa gauge face that was molded into the stock SR headlight bucket, racing foam for seat, bobbed front Honda fender, custom GSXR front forks and triples with clip ons, tapered head bearing conversion, GSXR rearsets, Brembo front rotor and caliper adapted to GSXR front end, rear Brembo caliper with custom machined caliper bracket and stock SR rear rotor with CNC drilled holes, hand made and cut custom fork brace, custom water jetted sprocket carrier with modern 530 sprocket, gold chain, RD400 18" front and rear mags, Rare Cal Fab swing arm, custom rear brake stay, Tomaselli head light ears, wired from scratch, Works Shocks, all aluminum was first polished, then brushed then clear coated, Motor was bored to 600cc with a White Brothers big Bore kit, White Brothers cam, ported and polished head, fresh valve job with heavy duty valve springs, motor was completely torn down, split cases, new bearings and seals throughout, custom made intake and Mikuni flat slide carb, K&N filter, custom made black braided oil lines, stainless steel bolts used everywhere possible, stock wrapped header and a Lossa reverse cone muffler, Rizoma mirror, Dunlop tires, frame was completely de tabbed and hooped before powder coating, powder coated engine side covers with sprocket cover welded to stator cover before drilling lightning holes and powder coating, All House of Kolor paint was used, everything on this bike was replaced, rebuilt or restored, 100% restoration/ customization.

There is over 200 hours of customizing, machining, welding, hand fabrication and hard work on this bike. Please read whole auction and realize the amount of time and effort that was put into this bike before you ask any questions!
