Motor Expo 2016 - PART 1

This year's Motor Expo had some very juicy new bikes for us living in Thailand.

First off, the introduction on the Thai market of a great motorcycle manufacturer. One that has now 95 years of history and has a special place in my heart: you guessed it....Moto Guzzi is finally here!
Unfortunately, the import taxes will seriously affect sales, since they will cost around one third more than their direct competitors.
Aprilia, being part of the Piaggio group like Moto Guzzi, are also officially present for the first time.

Another highlight for me, was the Triumph stand, which had all new bikes on show, includingthe new T100, the Street Scrambler, the Street Cup and the much talked about Bobber. The bikes all look great in my opinion, very well executed with much attention to detail. I particularly liked the black and grey metal flake tank on the Street Cup, which will most likely find its way on my future Street Twin.

A very nice custom Speed Triple. The transformation kit will probably be sold in the coming year, price not yet available.

Gone is the trademark double headlight to make space for a nice classic looking single round headlight. Thanks God, I would add.

Not so sure about this little liquid cooling contraption...

The Street Scrambler looks particularly good in my opinion

MotoTrio joins the Omega Family

I'm very pleased to announce that another great Thai manufacturer has joined the Omega family.

MotoTrio has a stunning lineup of custom parts for all Triumph Modern Classics, including fiberglass fenders, fender eliminator kits, side covers, oil cooler guards and many many more.
MotoTrio is the brainchild of 3 brothers (Em, Om and Arm)

I'm in the process of reorganizing the shop, both online and in real life, and I will add many new parts throughout the next couple of months.

Consolidating the beginning of a new adventure with one third of  MotoTrio..."Em"

Yamaha SR500 Scrambler from Italy

Gian Luigi sourced a very nice Yamaha SR500 in Germany and took it back to Rome, where he transformed it in to a green grasshopper and street tracker.
For his project, Gian Luigi got a Sport aluminium tank, aluminium side covers, exhaust pipe, front fender and the unique seat cowl by "The Sports" from the Omega Racer store. One of his friends then made little fiberglass 'skirts' under the tank for the lines to pair up with the seat cowl. We think that's a very nice touch!

Trip to Dornach

The first week into our holiday in SouthTyrol we rode to Dornach, near Salurn, where my good friend Patrick makes 2 outstanding wines, called XX (for the red wine) and XY (the white). For more info follow this LINK.

This was my first time on the BMW R69S from 1961. I was surprised that an old lady like her would run so smooth and ride so easily. Even when pushing it hard I couldn't detect any vibrations. The only blame could be found with the gears, who engage with a hard and loud 'clonk' and sometimes don't engage at all. But this was something normal in those times.
My verdict: Low consumption and a big tank make it a very enjoyable touring bike. It runs smooth and quiet. Excellent seating comfort for both rider and passenger.
