Bike Trip to Tha Takiap

Finally my day off and what better way to celebrate it than a bike trip in unknown territories? This time Ben and I chose Thailand's south east for our destination. More precisely Tha Takiap, a village on the outskirts of a dam and embraced by lovely hills that reminded me of the landscape around Florence in Italy.

We had a good ride, some rather lousy food, torrential rain and some exciting off-roading. We tried to reach a waterfall that was advertised as being 12km from the main road. As it turned out, Thais are not just bad with timing, but with distances as well. After the expected 12km through thick rain forest (kind of), we arrived at a building, where a lonely guy told us the waterfall was 12 more kilometers further up in the forest. That would have meant about 2 more hours added to the trip. This delay and the fact that Ben's tyres were not really cut out for the territory let us turn around and head homewards. On the way we got pretty soaked...but hey, it's the rainy season and to be expected.

All in all a great day!
